2 Month Check Up

Andrew had his 2 month check up on Wednesday and weighed in at 12 ;bs 2 oz and 22 3/4". He's definitely bigger than Alison was at this age - by 2 lbs! He's got this curl sticking up on the top of his head now, but I didn't capture it so well in this photo.I would also like to say that he has slept 8-9 hours every night since Monday! I think we've done it! I feel like a new person.

His Close-up

I was just paring down my recent shots of Andrew (that continuous shutter option is a blessing and a curse - I end up with SO many pics!) and I ran across this one. I thinks it's SO cute - he has a sweet little face (of course I'm totally biased). I took this on 3/17 - he looks even older and bigger in those two short weeks.

A Little Shut-Eye

I HAVE A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE! are you ready??

ANDREW SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT LAST NIGHT!!!!!
He ate at 10 and then again at 6am! He squawked once during the night and I gave him his binky and I didn't hear a peep out of him after that. In fact, he probably would have kept on sleeping at 6 but I wanted to keep his wake up time consistent.

I'm so happy I could just cry!! I wanted to climb on my roof to shout it to the world, but that didn't seem too safe - and I don't have a ladder! So I'm climbing on my cyber-roof to let everyone know! If this continues I have high hopes of returning to a somewhat normal state of rest-edness. It's amazing what a straight 7 hours of sleep will do when you haven't had longer than a 4 hour stretch for several months.

Can I get and Amen? I know all of you moms understand what I'm talking about!

Our Little Visit to the Hospital

Andrew started acting particularly fussy early Thursday evening and wouldn't be consoled to go to sleep that night. I finally realised he was a little warmer than he ought to be. He had a temp of 100.4, so I called the doctor Friday morning and they told me to bring him in. By then his temp was up to 101 and they wanted me to bring him to the hospital to get him tested for RSV and to stay for observation. Mostly because he's so little and that it was the weekend and they didn't want us to get stuck without anyway to see a doctor over the weekend. Of course, as a postpartum hormonal mother I started to panic. But luckily he's only had the flu and they've managed him well and he's doing much better. I even almost got a smile out of him today. The nurses have been great too.

The best part of all this is that I found out they make little hospital gowns. Of course I had to take a picture. Poor little guy - but he sure looks cute! At least when his backside is exposed it's s tiny and cute!

This was taken the night we got there.

He had to wear a mask when we went down to xray - but it was a little big for him so the pic's not so good.

I took this today while Daddy was here to visit. He looks a little tuckered out.

Week 7 - Chillin' out with Sis'

"I could get used to this."

"Hey, he's in my chair!"

"Well I guess it's okay!" She really is cute sharing with him all her stuff - blankets included, that's a BIG deal!

What a cute little lion's roar.

I do love a good profile shot.

To Catch a Smile - Week 6

He started smiling for real at 6 weeks and I still haven't gotten a great picture yet, but here's some attempts! Thank goodness for the continuous shutter option!

Andrew - week 5

This is what he wore on his blessing day - I didn't take a picture of him that day, but I took this a week later. That sweater is tight on him now and the pants are a lot shorter. AND, he smiles on occasion now!

I just love this little sweater outfit (Thanks Megan Y.!)

My mom will probably make me take these down - but I think they are SOOOO cute. During our quick trip to Utah, Andrew loved hanging out with Grandma in her new bed.

This is how all their snuggle sessions ended. He would just snuggle into her and fall asleep. My mom is the sleep genie when it comes to my kids. She's rightfully earned the title of "human Boppy"!

Andrew - week 4

(I just noticed that now I have a blog with a blue design and a baby boy - there's a LOT of blue on this blog. Good thing it's my favorite color!)

Rocky Balboa

"I got your nose!" - ah, the teasing begins!

Alison loves her brother!

He does this a lot.

What is it with baby toes!? They are SO CUTE!

Okay, some new pictures of Andrew

Okay, I have to admit, I've been really bad about posting recent pictures of Andrew. (Sorry Allyn!) With the sleepless nights, a two year old and unplanned trip to Utah, it's been hard to make the time to download all the pics and then blog them. But I've managed today. Since the last pictures of him on here are from week two, here are some pictures at 3 weeks.

just chillin'

I have a lot of these. I've gotten a better pose of them together from the other day - coming soon!

Blessing Day - Nick did such a great job!

Sleepyhead - they really are so sweet when they are sleeping!

Okay, so this one isn't of Andrew. But I had to show you the great education Alison is getting since Andrew has come home. Breast is best! (btw, this was not staged, she frequently will do this while I am feeding him.)

Sunshine

Have I mentioned lately what a ham Alison is? She has been amusing us a lot lately. She is talking up a storm. She loves to inform us of everything from the color of the crayon she happens to be holding or the fruit snack she is eating to Andrew's state of being - mad, sad, sneezing, sleeping, awake, etc. She is a little sponge and has recently started singing all her bedtime songs with us. She constantly surprises me!

Thanks everyone

Thank you to everyone who have posted such nice supportive comments over the last week. It's been an emotional and tiring week. But the support of great friends makes things like this more bearable. So I thank you all!

I'll be catching up on some photos and things from the last few weeks soon!

If I could just figure out how to get the baby fed without actually having to wake up.....

Brother and Sister

I have to say I am really pleased and surprised how good Alison is with her baby brother. She loves to hug him and kiss him and is so excited to see him when he wakes up. I was a little worried a few months ago when she was hitting her dolls and throwing them up in the air and stuff. She's much more gentle with Baby Andrew. One of her favorite things to do is look at her baby pictures. When she first saw them she would exclaim "baby brother!" I had to explain that it was her... they do a look a little alike as infants.

Andrew is doing well; eating, sleeping and going through diapers. Thankfully I am doing well too. We are past the 10 day mark which is where things really got bad last time. My doctor has been checking on me and he says I'm good and don't have to go back until my six week check up. I think if I'd known I should feel as good as I do this time around I would've been a little more concerned last time. OH well - hindsight.....

Most of the pictures I have of Andrew so far are closeups and you can't really see how big or little he is - so when I saw how tiny he looked next to Nick - I had to snap this "perspective" picture. I know 8 lbs 9 oz is a big baby - but he's still pretty tiny.
This is after his first bath. We're not used to having all this hair on a baby and he needs it washed~ He liked his second bath better than the first.

Not even a week old yet....

Here are some newer pictures of him - he looks less traumatized from the whole birth thing!

Here he is in his first ride in his car seat. Doesn't he look cozy? I love his little blue hat - they gave that too him at the hospital. I like to call it his thug hat.

Alison covered him up with her blanket while he was asleep in the bouncy chair. She's a good sharer!

It was nice and sunny today, so I took advantage of the natural light. I love that hair!!!
